Bio of Dr. Carol Hodes

Dr. Carol Hodes received her BS degree in Biology and pursued her MS and PhD at Penn State, while working in various College of Engineering labs. She taught labs at Penn State’s nuclear reactor and a radiobiology course for 11 years, while her primary research was in information and processing and software design. Among her many publications is the 1986 book “Understanding the Health Effect of Ionizing Radiation”, and it’s revised 1992 publication as a single author. She has won several research awards and was a visiting scholar to East China Normal University in Shanghai. Joining GWIS in 1984, Dr. Hodes has been Nu chapter's newsletter editor and president, and currently is an advisor to the chapter. At the national level, she has served on the numerous committees; Notchev Fellowship (1993-97), Nomination (1997-2000), Honorary Member (2000-2003), and was National vice president (2001-2002) prior to assuming the National Presidency.
Dr. Hodes is presently a research associate with the PA Department of Education. She has two adult daughters and three lovely grandchildren.
