Bio
of Regina Vidaver
Regina
Vidaver is the Executive Director of Women Against Lung Cancer, a newly-formed
non-profit dedicated to reducing deaths due to lung cancer and helping
patients live longer and better through research, awareness and advocacy.
Previously, Dr. Vidaver was an AAAS/NSF Science & Engineering Fellow
at the National Science Foundation, where she served as Executive Secretary
of the National Science and Technology Council, Committee on Science,
Human Subjects Research Subcommittee, and was a member of the Science
of Learning Centers program implementation committee. Prior to her
AAAS/NSF fellowship, Dr. Vidaver held the position of Scientific Programs
Manager at the Society for Women¹s Health Research, the only national
advocacy organization dedicated to improving the health of women through
research. Dr. Vidaver oversaw programs designed to promote and develop
the field of sex-based biology - the study of how males and females
are similar and different, from the gene to the organism level.
Dr. Vidaver previously served as GWIS Fellowships Coordinator,
Chair of the Eloise Gerry fellowship committee, and treasurer of the
Beta Chapter. She received her B.A. in biology in 1992 from Amherst
College, where she served as co-president of the Amherst Women in Science
organization, and her Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology from
the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999.
