Biography of Vessa Notchev

The sad news of 1994 was the passing of Vessa Notchev, a native of Sofia, Bulgaria, who had a degree in Chemistry and later Chemical Engineering from the University of Caen, France. After a productive period at McGill University, she and her husband came to San Diego where she worked in endocrinology research at the Reese Staley Research Foundation and Clinic (now Sharp Hospital). Vessa and her husband founded a technical manpower company, with Vessa as President. She provided guidance and encouragement to several foreign students to enter science professions and bequeathed $50,000 to establish a SDE/GWIS scholarship fund for members.
