This month's featured scientist is Dr. Cori Wong, who holds the titles of Special Assistant to the President of Colorado State University, Director of the Women and Gender Collaborative, and Assistant Professor of Women's Studies and Gender Research at Colorado State University. Dr. Cori Wong earned a dual Ph.D. in Philosophy and Women's studies from Pennsylvania State University.

She will lead a webinar discussion on Honest Confidence on Tuesday, October 16 at 5:00 p.m. EST/4:00 p.m. CDT and be featured later this month in GWIS Lead.

2019-2020 Fellowship Applications Open Soon
 
Applications for the 2019-2020 Fellowships will be available as of November 5, 2018. The deadline for applications will be January 11, 2019. Last month, we asked you to fill out a survey regarding time preferences for a virtual meeting on applying for the GWIS Fellowship with past winners. This virtual meeting will take place on Monday, November 26. Look forward to this virtual meeting's exact time and registration information in next month's Connect.

LA hosts GWIS LA Across the STEMverse Reunion
 
Los Angeles Chapter hosted the GWIS LA Across the STEMverse Reunion networking event where a wonderful, diverse group of women shared stories, advice, and intellectual conversation. The chapter also recently hosted their 2nd Anniversary Picnic. In a short time, they have grown as an organization that promotes science diversity and community service. The event served as a celebration and an opportunity to reconnect and reflect on the GWIS mission.

Northern Colorado hosts a Fall Retreat
 
Northern Colorado recently hosted a GWIS NoCo retreat where members and friends got together to do yoga, hike, and form new friendships.
