All through the year, Graduate Women in Science strives to Empower our members to Connect and Lead in the attainment of their scientific careers. From fellowships to mentoring webinars to newsletters and social media to national meetings, we serve our women in the science community with the generous donations from our members and the time of our numerous volunteers. As you give thanks for the good things in your life this month, we hope GWIS is one them! Please consider a donation to our fellowships or our general fund. Thank you!
Cientifico Latino Project

The Científico Latino Project comes from a drive to increase the rate of minority scientists and professionals by creating a platform where everyone, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, or immigration status has equal access to fellowship and scholarship opportunities and the chance to learn from their peers on how to become a successful professional in STEM and other fields. The newly-launched website and blog contains articles and tips for students, events, a list of institutions with post-baccalaureate programs, and an extensive list of fellowship opportunities for Latino and non-Latino researchers.

Chapter News
State College Chapter recently hosted their first event of the semester entitled "Think Outside the Beaker," which brings chemistry demos to youth visiting campus. They will continue to partner with Penn State's Eberly College of Science outreach office for multiple events this semester.

Chicago Chapter recently hosted a career panel focusing on Genetic Counseling with speakers coming from the Genetic Task Force of Illinois and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. The panel offered important insights on the current status, challenges, and future outlook of the career.
Eastern South Dakota Chapter held their 7th Annual Girl Scout Science Camp. Over 50 girls scouts came to learn about real life superheroes and their powers. They learned about plant and animal superheroes, the power of chemical reactions, the formation of kryptonite and other crystals, and the magic behind static electricity and density. It was a very enthusiastic crowd and both the scouts and their parents had an awesome time! We would like to give thanks to Sanford Research for their continued support of this event!
