Ariel C. Hollinshead Fellowhsip



Together with the Hollinshead and Hyun families, Graduate Women in Science has established the Ariel C. Hollinshead Endowment in memory of Dr. Ariel C. Hollinshead (August 24, 1929 – September 10, 2019). Dr. Hollinshead joined GWIS in 1961 and was a part of the organization for almost 60 years. From 1968 – 1969, she served as President of the Omicron (now National Capital) chapter. For decades she was Washington, DC Liaison to GWIS National Council. From 1983 – 1986, Dr. Hollinshead held the National offices of Vice President, President-Elect, and President and following her time as President, Dr. Hollinshead sat on the GWIS Board of Directors for five years. Moreover, when a vacancy opened up in the President Elect position in the 2007/2008 year, she stepped up to fill the position. Dr. Hollinshead was awarded a GWIS Honorary Membership in 1977 for Excellence in Scientific Research and was awarded the GWIS Meritorious Service Award in 2008 for her contributions to GWIS.

This endowment will be used to support the Ariel C. Hollinshead Fellowship, which will be awarded to women in any scientific field and at any career stage to support their research, with special consideration given to mid-career, late-career, and immunotherapy scientists.
