Joining GWIS is easy!


Where you choose to take your membership is up to you. Whether it is getting involved in events held by your local chapter or activities hosted by the national organization, your membership will support our mission to advance women in science.






Who can join?

Anyone with a baccalaureate degree, regardless of their gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.

 

Many of our members hold masters and doctoral degrees, but our membership is open to anyone who holds a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning who supports the mission of our organization.

 

In addition, absolutely anyone can become an affiliate member, whether or not he or she has obtained a baccalaureate degree. Affiliate members do not have voting rights but are otherwise invited to participate in all GWIS functions, activities, events, and conferences.


What type of memberships are available?

"At large" (formerly Omega) membership

If you do not live near a local chapter, become an at large member and connect through our website, members-only forums and publications!


Chapter membership

If you live close to one of our chapters we recommend you join GWIS with a chapter membership. This membership will allow you to take advantage of all the local activities hosted by the chapter PLUS enjoy all the benefits of the national membership.


How much does it cost?

How do I renew my membership?

If you are a current member looking to renew your membership, please log in and you will see a link for renewal on your member profile page.


Tax Deductibility

GWIS is a 501(c)(3) charitable membership organization, most of your national dues are tax deductible on your personal federal income tax return.
